The network of the Weltläden of South Tyrol comprehends 10 small fair trade registered cooperative societies, which gathered in 2013 in order to promote fair trade in South Tyrol.
The union to a network guarantees independence to every member while projects, which are important for every Weltladen, are carried out together.
The concept of fair trade was born about 50 years ago in Holland. From there the idea spread all over the world.
Today fair trade is one of the most important social movements around the globe offering a chance to disadvantaged producers in Africa, Asia and Latin America to escape form misery and dependence.
Through fair trade, producers receive a fair price for their products that enables them to live a life in dignity. The long-term collaboration ensures planning reliability.
The many volunteers and collaborators of the shops endeavour every day to inform customers about the peculiarities of the products and the successes and challenges of the producers.
They advise the costumers about the right product, which is made under the guarantee of fair working conditions. Moreover, they attempt to demonstrate how a more human economy may work where the human being lives in harmony with its environment.
For this reason, many products are also certified as biologic.
Our shops are more than simple sales points; they are places of encounter and dialog.
From high quality foods to creative manufacture, form close or from abroad: in our Weltläden you will discover an attractive choice of fair traded products.
