Weltladen Bolzano

The history of the Weltladen Bolzano begins in the periphery of Damask in Syria.
In the flickering light of a campfire to fiends, Rudi and Martin, discuss about the contradictions in many countries on the southern hemisphere of the world: startling manufactures, voluptuous coffee plantations and bright smiles of children go hand in hand with misery, diseases and exploitation.

Out of this conversation, the intetntion to open a fair trade shop in Bolzano takes form.
The Weltladen, at that time the second of its kind in Italy, opens in May 1985 in the Südtirolerstaße near the central Piazza Walther of Bolzano and since then has become an important part of the town. Since more than 30 years a multitude of volunteers and two professional collaborators, offer high quality fair trade groceries and manufactures form disadvantaged producers enabling them to live a life with dignity.
All profits are invested in the consolidation of fair trade and the opening of additional shops in Italy (By now more than 400 fair trade shops exist in Italy).

Our collaborators and volunteers offer a competent consulting about the products´ quality in order to fully meet the expectations of every costumer: The offer is exceptionally rich so that the desires of the local regular customers, students and workers, who pass by to reach the nearby train and bus station, can be met and the taste of the many tourists can be satisfied.
A step in our Weltladen is a step in a better world.
