Volunteering and awareness-raising

The World Shop Lana opened in 2009. Since then, fair trade products have been offered right next to the pharmacy on Gries. The World Shop Lana is managed by the non-profit social cooperative (Onlus) under the chairmanship of Klaudia Resch, who is also responsible for the World Shop in Merano. Heidi Nussbauer is the competent managing director.
Of course, the work of the many volunteers is indispensable. They regularly take shifts in the shop or actively support fair trade in other ways. They are the backbone of the World Shop and contribute significantly to its (economic) success, helping to ensure that many customers remain loyal to the shop and that new ones keep coming. The aim of the World Shop is to make itself redundant. “If we could buy only fairly traded products in all shops, there would be no need for world shops anymore,” explains one volunteer.
In the shop, we exclusively offer high-quality fair trade products (food, crafts of all kinds, gift ideas, clothing, and much more) with expert advice. This includes educating about the nature of fair trade. However, this doesn't only happen in the shop; we also use numerous opportunities outside to bring our fair products to the people. Furthermore, the World Shop (sometimes together with other organizations) regularly organizes events on various topics related to fair trade.
